Impacted teeth should be dealt with either by observation through yearly x-rays or better yet a surgical procedure. This may be for removal of the tooth or exposure and ligation.

If left in the “impacted condition they can silently destroy roots of nearby teeth or develop a cyst around tham that destroys bone. The crown of the tooth is meant to be in the mouth. When it is impacted (covered by other tissues ie; gums, bone or another tooth) it is in a pathological state.
